The Country Club is located at 191 Clyde Street, Chestnut Hill, Brookline, Massachusetts, US.
The Country Club is one of the game's most historic venues and holds an important place in golf history. It is one of the five charter clubs that founded the United States Golf Association.
The club was formed in 1882.
The original golf course was only 6 holes which eventually were shaped into a full 18 holes in 1899 following some land acquisition.
Now the golf facilities have a total of 27 holes, divided between two courses, the Main Course which is essentially the original 18 holes and the 9 hole Primrose Course built in 1927.
The Main Course was used for the course used for the 1913 US Open.
The Championship or Open Course is used for major competitions today. It is a composite layout using three and a half holes from the Primrose Course (1st, 2nd, 8th, and 9th) are used to replace three holes of the Clyde. The outcome is a course with a length of almost 7,400 yards.
Some of the tournaments hosted at The Country Club are: US Open, Ryder Cup, US Amateur, and US Women’s Amateur.
