The 1991 PGA Championship was played August 8–11 at the Crooked Stick Golf Club. John Daly won the championship with a total of 276, -12, three strokes ahead of runner-up Bruce Lietzke. Daily was 25 years old at the time.
The winner's share was $230,000.
The PGA Championship win was also his first PGA Tour victory.
The 1995 Open Championship was played 20–23 July at the Old Course at St Andrews. John Daly won the championship with a total of 282, -6, in a four-hole playoff against Costantino Rocca.
The winner's share was $199,375.
