Club designer Thomas Crow founded Cobra golf in 1973.
Tom Crow was a former Australian Amateur champion and course-record-holder at Royal Melbourne’s West Course - the number one ranked golf course in Australia.
He was also a pioneer in the equipment industry. In 1975 Tom developed the "Baffler" first utility wood. The Baffler has a patented sole-plate design that's effective from various lies.
Later in 1979 he introduced the extended-length driver, a 46-inch driver with a graphite head and shaft.
Tom Crow died in January 2020 at the age of 88.
In April 2010, PUMA AG purchased Cobra Golf and created a new company, COBRA-PUMA GOLF.
