Pete Dye designed the Ocean Course at Kiawah Island Golf Resort.
Kiawah Island Golf Resort is a 5 star resort with a 255 room hotel, close to 500 private villas, 22 tennis courts, golf courses, bars and restaurants.
The Ocean Course, opened in 1991, is the most famous course at the resort. It was designed by Pete and Alice Dye.
It has great views of the shoreline of the Atlantic Ocean and is very exposed to strong winds.
The Ocean Course has been consistently named as one of the best courses in the world.
The Ocean Course is a par 72 course. From the championship tees it is 7,849 yards (7,177 m) loing. It has a slope rating of 155 and a course rating of 79.1 which is the highest in the country, according to the United States Golf Association.
In 2000 the course featured in the golf movie “The Legend of Bagger Vance.
Tournaments held at the course include the 1991 Ryder Cup, the World Cup of Golf in 1997 and 2003 and the 2012 PGA Championship.
