Anirban Lahiri was born on the 29th of June 1987 in Pune, India.
At age 8, his father Dr. Tushar Lahiri who was a recreational golfer, introduced him to the game.
He speaks Bengali, Hindi and Punjabi, in addition to English.
He began playing competitively at eight years old and quickly made a name for himself in junior tournaments. His amateur career included significant successes, such as winning the Asian Junior Team Championships in 2005 and representing India at the Eisenhower Trophy in 2006.
Anirban turned pro in 2007 and joined the PGA Tour in 2015.
Anirban Lahiri played in the 2015 and 2017 Presidents Cup.
He also competed in the 2016 and 2022 Olympic Games.
He won his first European Tour event, the Maybank Malaysian Open, in 2015. His total score was 272 (-16). Runner up was Bernd Wiesberger one shot behind.
Anirban Lahiri won the 2015 Hero Indian Open with a total score of 277 (-7). He won the tournament in a playoff agains Shiv Chawrasia.
Lahiri joined LIV Golf in August 2022.
At his first LIV Golf tournament, Lahiri finished in a three-way tie for first place at the LIV Golf Invitational Boston with Dustin Johnson and Joaquín Niemann.
Lahiri represented India as a two-time Olympian, competing in golf at both the Rio Olympics in 2016 and the Tokyo Olympics in 2021. His participation has further elevated his profile as a leading athlete representing Indian golf on the global stage.
