Marc Leishman was born on the 24th of October 1983 in Warrnambool, Victoria.

As an amateur he won the 2001 Victorian Junior Masters, 2001 Victorian Boys Championship, 2001 South Australian Junior Masters and 2005 Lake Macquarie Amateur.

Marc turned pro in 2005 and joined the PGA Tour in 2009.

In 2009 he won the PGA Tour Rookie of the Year award. He was the first Australian to win the award.
