Jhonattan Vegas was born on the 19th of August 1984 in Maturín, Venezuela.

Jhonattan went to the University of Texas.

In 2017 he represented Venezuela in the 23rd World Amateur Team Championship for the Eisenhower Trophy where the team finished in 30th.

He won the Venezuela's National Amateur Championship in Maracaibo in 2006.

He turned pro in 2008.

In 2021 Jhonattan Vegas represented Venezuela in golf at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo where he finished 16th.

In 2017 he became the first player from Venezuela to compete in the Presidents Cup.

Jhonattan Vegas won his first PGA Tournament, the Bob Hope Classic, in January 2011 in a playoff against Bill Haas and Gary Woodland. His total score was 333 (-27).
