Grace Kim was born to Korean-born parents on the 13 December 2000 in Sydney, Australia. She grew up playing golf in New South Wales, Australia.

She is a four-time recipient of the Karrie Webb Scholarship.

Grace Kim won an individual gold medal at the 2018 Youth Olympics in Buenos Aires.

Before turning professional she had an excellent amateur career winning a number of amateur titles and reaching number 29 in the female World Amateur Golf Rank.
