Carson Young was born on the 12th of November 1994 in Anderson, South Carolina.
He grew up playing competitive tennis alongside his brothers and cousins, but it was the golf course next to the tennis courts that caught his eye. He begged his parents to let him try golf, even though no one in the family knew anything about the game. With the guidance of Harvey Brock, a local pro at Boscobel Golf Club, he quickly picked up the sport around the age of 7. His passion was ignited when he won the first tournament he entered, competing against 8-9 year olds, and he was hooked from that moment on.
His dad took him to junior tournaments when he was younger, and on one occasion he was so nervous they had to pull over to the side of the road so he could throw up. His dad said he didn't have to play and they could go home, if he wanted to. He looked at his dad and said, "No, I love it."
