The Official World Golf Ranking is a system for rating the performance level of professional golfers.
The Official World Golf Ranking was launched in 1986.
Official Tournaments from the leading professional Eligible Golf Tours from around the world as well as Major Championships, World Golf Championships, Olympic Golf Competition and the World Cup of Golf are eligible for World Ranking Points.
All players competing in these tournaments will receive World Ranking Points.
The rankings are based on a player's position in those tournaments over a rolling two year period.
New rankings are published each week.
Bernhard Langer first took the top position on April 6, 1986.
Tiger Woods holds the record for the most consecutive weeks at number one (281, from June 12, 2005 to October 30, 2010).
