The Ryder Cup is named after the English businessman Samuel Ryder who donated the trophy.
Originally The Ryder Cup was played between Great Britain and the United States.
The first Ryder Cup match was played in 1927 in the United States at Worcester Country Club in Worcester, Massachusetts.
