In 1975 Lee Elder was the first African-American to play in the Masters Tournament at Augusta National.
Augusta didn’t admit its first Black member until 1990.
Robert Lee Elder was born on 14th July 1934 in Dallas, Texas.
In 1975 he became the first African-American to play in the Masters Tournament. Unfortunately he missed the cut.
Lee Elder was invited to the Masters after he won the 1974 Monsanto Open.
