According to golfpride.com as an overall rule it’s recommended that you change your grips once a year. If you play more than 40 rounds a year or hit the range a few times a week, you may need to replace grips more often.
Golf grips wear down over time due to sweat and oils from your hand, dirt, UV rays and weather conditions.
Once golf grips are worn down they feel slick and lose traction.
