Woodland won the 2019 US Open at Pebble Beach
Garry Woodland was born on the 21st of May 1984 in Topeka, Kansas.
Golf wasn’t Woodland’s first love. He initially went to college to play basketball but realized he didn’t have a future in that sport, so he transferred to play golf at the University of Kansas.
Gary turned professional in 2006 and spent a couple seasons on the Nationwide Tour before surviving “Q school” to get full time PGA playing status in 2009.
During his career, Gary has not been in the mix at many majors, but he took advantage of his chance at Pebble and beat Brooks Koepka by 1 stroke for the title.
The 2019 US Open was played from June 13–16 at Pebble Beach Golf Links in Pebble Beach, California.
Gary Woodland won the 2019 US Open three strokes over world number one Brooks Koepka.
Tied for third place at -7 were Jon Rahm, Chez Reavie, Justin Rose and Xander Schauffele.
His total score was 271 (-13).
The winner's share was 2,250,000.
