The European Ryder Cup team for 2021 has been finalised as follows: Jon Rahm, Tommy Fleetwood, Tyrrell Hatton, Bernd Wiesberger, Rory McIlroy, Viktor Hovland, Paul Casey, Matt Fitzpatrick, Lee Westwood, Sergio Garcia, Shane Lowry, and Ian Poulter.
The make up of the European 2021 Ryder Cup team came down to the wire as results in the final qualifying event, the BMW PGA Championship, changed the qualifying positions of a number of players.
Qualifiers via the European Points list were Rahm, Fleetwood, Hatton, and Wiesberger.
Qualifiers via the World Points list were McIlroy, Hovland, Casey, Fitzpatrick, and Westwood.
Padraig Harrington then used his Captain's Picks to select Garcia, Lowry, and Poulter.
Justin Rose just missed out on each of the automatic qualifying options leaving Harrington with a very difficult choice. Garcia and Poulter's previous Ryder Cup performances were hard to look past and Harrington chose Lowry to round out the team of 12.
