The top 15 players (Olympic Golf Rankings) were eligible for the Olympics, up to a maximum of four golfers per country qualifying in this fashion.
Beyond the guaranteed top 15, players were eligible based on the world rankings, with a maximum of two eligible players from each country that does not already have two or more players among the top 15.
There is a total of 60 spots in each field.
The Olympic Golf Rankings essentially mirror the Official World Golf Ranking for men and the Rolex Rankings for women.
The host country, Japan for 2021, is also guaranteed at least two golfers in the field regardless of rankings.
2021 Tokyo Games: 23rd July - 8th August
The men’s golf competition: 29th July - 1st August
Women’s competition: 4th-7th August
Both men’s and women’s golf competitions are played at the Kasumigaseki Country Club.
