Leading in to April 2020 the global COVID-19 pandemic was still relatively new. Organisers were unclear how to safely hold major events like the US Masters. By the second half of the year many lessons had been learnt and it was deemed possible to hold the tournament in November.
Sporting events all around the world have been cancelled or delayed due to Covid-19.
The organisers of the US Masters were committed from day one not to cancel the 2020 Masters but to defer it, with November being the most likely time period.
The goal is to hold the 2021 Masters in the traditional time of second week of April.
